this afternoon i followed a protest from trafalgar square to downing street and the houses of parliament. the participants were protesting against israel’s ongoing attacks on lebanon.

once i was done watching the protest, i walked fifty metres to the thames and found two perfectly peaceful scenes: two children trying to see the london eye over the wall, and a man fishing.

just fifty metres away from a lot of yelling and police activity.

the picture below is far from perfect. no polariser, it’s noisy and the exposure’s all wrong, but what i’m interested in is why the river is blue on the right and orange on the left with such a strong line between the two. answers on a postcard…

wandering along the thames i spotted a bouy in the middle of the river that had started collecting rubbish. unfortunately i forget i’d set my camera to ISO1600 the last time i used it so the first image is very grainy. the reflections on the water proved interesting enough though…

i’ve come to the conclusion that it’s not really possible to walk between embankment and westminster bridge without taking a few pictures of the london eye, hence the final picture :)
